Admission Criteria:
- Right of admission and discharge is reserved by St. Mary’s palliative care centre
- A family member of the patient is required to stay with the patient during her/his stay at St. Mary’s Palliative care centre.
- Patient’s stay cannot exceed two months.
- PALLIATIVE CARE INCLUDES…. Counseling, psychological issues, wound care, symptomatic treatment, vomiting, discharge, breathlessness, constipation, Anxiety management.
- Oxygen support, IV Fluids and Ryle’s Tube at doctor’s discretion
- Allotment of beds is at the discretion of St. Mary’s Palliative care centre.
- The patient might be asked to change room/bed and his/her stay at St. mary’s as and when a need arises.
- Patients above the age of 10 are admitted.
- Admission hours are between 8am to 6pm.Sunday no admissions.
- All the services extended to the patients are free of cost. food and stay at the discretion of the hospital.
- Visiting hours are between 8am -8pm
- Reports from even outstation patients are mandatory prior to admission.
- If the symptoms of the patient are under control the patient may be discharged.
- Patient is provided with palliative care to keep him/her comfortable and as pain free as possible.
- Cardio pulmonary resuscitation and other life saving procedure are not attempted at the centre.
- If diagnostics investigations are indicated the patient may be taken to a diagnostic centre for specific test s at patient’s expense. The patient’s family should make necessary arrangements.
- If indicated the blood and other samples may be taken to a diagnostic laboratory for specific investigations at patient’s expense.
- In some instances it may become necessary to obtain the opinion/advice/intervention of specialist doctors. In such a case required expenses will be paid by patient attenders
- St. Mary’s palliative care is a charitable trust, and there is no need to pay for any of the medical or nursing services, provided by the palliative care team.
